Videos

Your videos stay on YouTube or Vimeo, and your website shows them. Add a video once from its link and it goes in your photos, ready for a Videos block, a Photos block or a trip. Anglers see its cover until they tap play.

Add videos to a page

1. Open the website editor with Website in the menu, and go to the page.
2. Tap Add block and pick Videos.
3. Tap Add a video, paste the video’s link from Share on YouTube or Vimeo, and tap Add video.
4. Pick One big to play one large with the rest in a row under it, or Grid to show them all as tiles.
5. Tap Publish.

To put a video beside your photos, pick it in a Photos block like a photo. To put one on a trip, add it to the trip’s photos.

What anglers see

The video’s cover, its title and “Plays on YouTube” or “Plays on Vimeo”. Nothing loads from YouTube or Vimeo until an angler taps play, so your pages open quickly and anglers aren’t tracked for visiting them. When they tap, the video plays on your page.

Gillie keeps a copy of the video’s cover in your photos, with any black bars above and below it trimmed, and checks it like any photo. If the cover from YouTube looks small or blurry, tap Use one of your photos as the cover when you add the video.

Videos that aren’t on YouTube or Vimeo

Gillie shows videos from YouTube and Vimeo only. If you have a video file, upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video: only people with its link can find it there, and you can add that link here.

When things go wrong

If Gillie says it couldn’t find a video, check it’s public or unlisted on YouTube or Vimeo, not private. A video you take down from YouTube or Vimeo stops playing on your website too, so remove it from your photos.
