Terms for guides
The agreement between Gillie and the guides who use it, including how we handle anglers’ details for you.
Updated 29 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you, the guide using Gillie, and us: Sklabs Software Ltd, trading as Gillie, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14676957), at 86–90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE. By creating a business on Gillie, you agree to them on behalf of yourself and your business.
Gillie is for businesses, not consumers, and you confirm you’re using it for your business. Anglers book with you under your own booking terms, not these.
Gillie is in beta
Gillie is new. We’re building it with the first guides who use it, so things will change, and now and then something won’t work as it should. We’ll fix what we can quickly, and tell you about changes that matter to you. We provide Gillie as it is, without promising it will always be available or free of faults.
What Gillie does, and what it doesn’t
Gillie gives you software to list your trips and dates, take bookings and payments, and run a website. You run the trips.
We aren’t a party to any booking. Each booking is a contract between you and the angler. You’re responsible for:
- your trips, and everyone’s safety on them;
- the licences, permits, insurance and qualifications your trips need;
- your booking terms, and giving anglers the information the law asks for;
- what your website says and shows, and that it’s accurate;
- your prices, your tax, and your own records;
- answering anglers, and keeping your bookings and calendar up to date.
Your account and your team
You sign in with your email address. Keep access to it safe, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has.
The owner of a business is responsible for everyone they add to its team, and for what they do in Gillie. You must be 18 or over to use Gillie.
Payments
Payments are provided by Stripe under the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes Stripe’s own terms of service. By opening a Stripe account through Gillie, you agree to it, as Stripe changes it from time to time. You’ll give Gillie accurate information about you and your business, and you let us share it, and your payment information, with Stripe. Stripe, not Gillie, holds and pays out your money.
Payments go straight to your Stripe account, and you’re the seller. That means:
- refunds come from your Stripe balance;
- card disputes and chargebacks are yours to answer, and the amount and Stripe’s dispute fee come from your balance;
- Stripe’s fees are yours.
Gillie takes no commission on your bookings. Gillie only takes or refunds an angler’s payment as you and your booking terms set, such as a refund you give or a date you call off.
Free and Pro
Every business can use Free. Free includes a set number of online bookings each month, shown on Plan and billing.
Gillie Pro is a subscription, paid monthly or yearly through Stripe. Its price is on Plan and billing and Gillie’s home page. Pro renews until you stop it. If you stop, Pro runs to the end of the time you’ve paid for, and we don’t refund part of a month or year.
We can change Pro’s price. We’ll email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, so you can stop before it does.
Your content
Your trips, words, photos and logo stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy, resize and show them, so we can run your website, your emails and Gillie, while you use Gillie and for as long as it takes to delete them after.
You confirm you have the right to everything you add, and that it’s lawful and true. You mustn’t use Gillie to:
- break the law, or mislead or defraud anyone;
- take money for trips you don’t intend to run;
- post anything hateful, sexual, violent, or that harms children;
- post fake reviews, or reviews about yourself;
- use someone else’s photos or words without their permission;
- send anyone email they haven’t asked for;
- attack, overload or copy Gillie, or get into anything that isn’t yours.
Reviews, reports and complaints
This section is for everyone who posts on Gillie, anglers leaving a review included.
We check every new photo and review with an automated tool, and a person at Gillie looks at anything it flags. We can hide or remove anything that breaks these terms or the law. Anyone can report a website. If we can, we’ll tell you why we took something down.
If we remove something you posted, or you think we got a report wrong, email [email protected]. Someone who wasn’t involved will look again and reply within 14 days.
Pausing or ending
You can close your business at any time, in Settings, then Your business. Your website goes offline at once, and 30 days later we delete everything, unless you reopen it in that time. You can’t close while a booking is still to come or an angler is owed a refund.
We can end these terms by giving you 30 days’ notice by email. We can pause or close your business straight away if you seriously break these terms or the law, if we suspect fraud, or if keeping it open would put anglers, other guides or Gillie at risk. Where it’s safe to, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
If we end these terms and you haven’t broken them, we’ll refund any Pro time you’ve paid for and not used.
Our liability
We work hard to keep Gillie running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will never fail.
- We aren’t liable for loss of profits, bookings, revenue, goodwill or data, or for any indirect loss. If we lose your data by breaking these terms, we’ll restore it from our backups.
- We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control.
- We aren’t liable for anything that happens on your trips, or for what anglers, Stripe or other services you use do.
- Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you’ve paid us in those 12 months, or £100, whichever is higher.
- If an angler or anyone else makes a claim against Gillie because of your trips, your content or your breach of these terms, you’ll cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms as Gillie grows. We’ll email you at least 30 days before a change that matters to you takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can close your business before then. Using Gillie after a change takes effect means you accept it.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute. Before going to court, write to us at [email protected] and we’ll try to sort it out.
How we handle anglers’ details for you
When anglers book with you, you decide what happens to their details: you’re the controller, and we’re your processor. This section is the agreement UK and EU data protection law asks for between us (Article 28 of the UK GDPR). It applies on Free and on Pro.
What we process. Anglers’ and subscribers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, bookings, payments, notes, reviews and messages, and the details of people on your team. We process them to provide Gillie to you, for as long as you use it, and as our privacy policy describes.
What we promise. We will:
- Only process anglers’ details to provide Gillie, as these terms and your use of Gillie instruct us, unless the law requires otherwise. If we think an instruction breaks the law, we’ll tell you.
- Make sure everyone at Gillie who can see them keeps them confidential, and looks only when they need to.
- Keep them secure, with encryption in transit and at rest, limited access, and a record of who at Gillie looked at what.
- Use only the companies listed in our privacy policy, each under a contract that protects the details as this one does. We stay responsible to you for what they do. We’ll email you before we add a new one. If you object, you can close your business.
- Help you answer anglers who ask to see, correct or delete their details. Delete customer removes an angler at once, and we remove an angler’s details three years after their last trip.
- Tell you without undue delay, and within 48 hours of finding out, if anglers’ details are lost, stolen or seen by someone who shouldn’t see them, and help you deal with it.
- Help you with assessments and with the regulator, where you need us to.
- Send you a copy of your anglers’ details if you ask before you close, and delete them 30 days after you close your business, apart from encrypted backups, which expire on their own. We keep nothing longer unless the law requires it.
- Give you the information you reasonably need to show we keep these promises, and allow and help with a reasonable audit, at your cost, once a year or after a breach, with 30 days’ notice.
Where details go outside the UK, we protect them as our privacy policy describes.
What you promise. You have a lawful reason to collect anglers’ details and to ask us to process them, and you answer anglers’ requests about them. Your website and booking emails show your business name and how to reach you. Your website and checkout link to our privacy policy, which tells anglers how Gillie handles their details. If you use them for anything more, like your own marketing, you tell anglers yourself.
Where we decide for ourselves. We act as a controller in our own right, and not on your instructions, when we prevent fraud and card disputes, check content and act on reports, keep Gillie secure, meet the law, and count how Gillie is used in totals that don’t identify anyone.
