Calling off a date
When the weather turns, call off a date and let everyone on it move for free or take a full refund.
When the wind is up or the boat is broken, call the date off in one go. Everyone booked on it gets an email with your note, and picks a new date for free or a full refund from their booking page. You don’t have to sort out each booking yourself.
Call off a date
The owner and admins can call off any date. Other guides can call off the dates they guide.
- Go to Calendar and tap the date.
- Tap Call off. The button only shows once someone is booked.
- Under Your note to the anglers, say why, like “Strong southerly, too rough to fish safely.” It’s optional, but anglers like to know.
- Tap Call off and email them, or Keep this date to back out.
Before you tap, the screen tells you how long anglers have to choose. The date comes off sale for good.
What do anglers get?
Each angler gets an email from your business with your note, a few other dates of the trip with room, and a link to their booking page. There they choose:
- a new date with room, for free, or
- a full refund of everything they paid.
If they don’t choose in time, Gillie refunds them in full by itself. If they were going to pay you on the day, there’s nothing to refund, so the booking is just cancelled.
Anyone halfway through booking the date loses their place. Requests you hadn’t answered are declined with your note.
Keep track of who’s chosen
- The date shows Called off on the Calendar and in Bookings. Each booking still deciding shows Picking new date or refund.
- Today lists anglers who haven’t chosen under Needs you, with the time their refund goes through. Tap the message button beside a name to remind them from your own phone.
We email you when an angler moves or takes their refund, but not for the refunds Gillie makes by itself.
Sort it out for an angler
If an angler rings you instead, open their booking:
- Move to another date moves them for free.
- Cancel booking cancels it with a full refund. You can’t choose a smaller refund after a call-off.
You can’t add or remove anglers on a booking while they’re choosing.
Who pays Stripe’s fee?
Card refunds go back to the angler’s card through Stripe, and Stripe keeps its fee, so that comes out of your money. Anyone who paid you directly gets it back from you. See changing or refunding a booking.
If you can’t call it off
You can’t call off a date that’s already over or already called off. If nobody is booked, there’s no Call off button: the owner or an admin can tap Stop bookings to take it off sale instead.
