Getting started

Sign up with just your email, answer three quick questions and see your own website with your first trip on it.

Signing up takes your email address and nothing else: no card and no password. Gillie asks three quick questions and builds your website beside them as you answer, with your first trip on it. Anglers can’t see it until you make it public, so you can look it over first.

Sign up and set up your website

  1. On Gillie’s home page, tap Start free, type your email and tap Continue with email.
  2. Type the 6-digit code we email you, or tap the button in the email.
  3. Tap Start and answer the three questions. Your website fills in as you go.
  4. On the last question, tap See your website.
  5. Look it over, then tap Make it public so anglers can find it and book.

Your time zone, currency and units (like °C or °F, cm or inches) come from the phone or computer you sign up on. If they’re wrong, change them in Settings, then Your business.

What do the three questions ask?

  • What do anglers call your business? The name gives your website its address. Not sure yet? Tap Skip for now and add one later.
  • What do you run most? Pick Boat trips, Shore or bank or Private days. Gillie fills in a trip name and a usual price for you to change.
  • When do you usually go out? Pick the days and a start time. Anglers can book those days every week once your website is public.

You can change any answer later, and add more trips.

Finish later

Tap Finish later at the top at any point. Gillie saves your answers and takes you to Today. To skip the questions altogether, tap Look around first before you start.

Until you’ve finished, Today shows a setup card with the next thing to do, like Add your first trip or Make your website public, and a button for it. It picks up from where you stopped, and each step drops off when it’s done. Only the owner and admins see it.

Gillie works without some steps, like putting a trip on your website, making it public or taking card payments. If you don’t want to do one, tap Skip this step and the card moves on to the next. To bring it back, go to Settings, then Your business, and tap Show on Today.

When your website is ready

The last screen says Your website is ready and shows its address. Only you can see it for now. Tap Look at it first to open it, then Make it public.

Once it’s public, the screen says Your website is live. Tap Copy link to send it to anglers, or Share on a phone.

On a computer, your website shows beside it. It starts in a style that suits the kind of trip you picked, so it doesn’t look like everyone else’s. Under it, tap a style beside Try another look to change the colour, background, corners and headings in one go. Your website changes straight away.

Under Next, when you have a minute are the things worth doing soon:

  • Add a photo: your website shows a drawing until you do.
  • Add your logo: your website takes its colour from it.
  • Add your phone number: so anglers can ask before they book.
  • Take card payments: until then, anglers pay you on the day.
  • See bookings in your calendar: in Google, Apple or Outlook.

Tap Go to your dashboard when you’re done.
