Photo and review checks
Why a photo or review can take a moment to show, and what happens when Gillie holds something back.
Gillie checks every photo, logo and review before it goes on your website, so nothing explicit or abusive ever shows to anglers under your name. Almost everything passes in a few seconds and you won’t notice. When something might be wrong, it stays off your website until someone looks: you, for rude words in a review, or Gillie for anything worse.
Read a review held for you
- Go to Reviews.
- Tap the To approve tab. A review the check held says “We held this one back for you to read first”.
- Tap Approve to put it on your website, or open its menu and tap Hide from your website.
This happens even when reviews go on your website straight away. Your reply under a review is checked too.
What you’ll see
- A new photo shows Getting ready while its copies are made and it’s checked. Then it’s ready to use.
- A photo Gillie holds shows In review, and stays off your website. If it’s fine, it comes back by itself. If not, it’s deleted.
- A logo Gillie holds is replaced on your website by your business’s name until then.
- A review Gillie holds shows In review. You can’t read it or put it back, and you’re not emailed about it.
Gillie only sends the checker a small copy of each photo and the words of each review: never your phone number, email or bookings, or anglers’ names.
When things go wrong
If a photo shows Getting ready for a long time, the check may be slow. It’s tried again every few minutes, so leave it be. A fishing photo with blood or a knife in it isn’t held for that.
If you think something was held by mistake, email us and say which one.
