Beyond the price

What anglers get for the money.

The same price can mean different days. Here’s what the boats we looked at include, and what they charge on top.

  • Rods and bait

Usually included on short trips. On full days, many boats charge £5 to £15 for rod hire, and bait extra.

  • Deposits

Only about one boat in six says what deposit it takes. Most take the full price on the day, often in cash.

  • Weekends

Boats that charge more at weekends add £50 to £150 for the whole boat.

  • Tuna and shark

A market of their own, at £125 to £320 a place. They’re left out here, so they don’t skew a normal day.

Questions

About these prices.

Where do they come from?
The price lists 71 charter boats publish on their own websites or on listings such as Charter Boats UK and FishingBooker, checked in November 2026.
How is “typical” worked out?
Each boat counts once, at its own middle price. Typical is the middle of those, and the usual range is where the middle half of boats sit.
Why so few boats on some coasts?
Only about a third of boats publish prices. Where fewer than three boats on a coast publish one, you’re compared with the whole UK, and the page says so.
Should I just charge the typical price?
Not necessarily. A newer boat, a specialist trip or a skipper anglers come back to can charge more. The usual range shows where half the boats sit, not where you have to.
